Yes It's You

When I wrote this song, I was writing about two young lovers. It is a kind of love that convinces you that there is no greater love than the love you have found in this very beautiful creature, which has won over your heart. She is the girl you want to spend the rest of your life with. For me, I knew deep in my heart there could be no greater love than what was shared between she and I.

There comes a time in every man's life when his heart speaks to him and tells him that this is the right girl. He’s certain he can't go on without having this girl in his life. He believes the love that he feels will last forever.

So I sat down and picked up my pencil and paper and began to write. The lyrics came to me very easily. The melody was something that I really can't explain. As I started creating the melody, the arrangements intensified and improved as I approached the bridge in the song. . Musical notes were dancing in my head. To my surprise, my thoughts lead me in a completely different direction which ushered in an even more powerful delivery that blended in with the flow of the melody almost exquisitely. This process directed me into a new dynamic passage which linked back into the last verse. The improvisation found in the climax rose from the depths of my soul and this creativeness is expressed throughout the vamp.

The music to this song was arranged by "Keith Montgomery," who was only 20 years old and a college student at the time of this recording. Keith had a style that was much like some of the top music arrangers of our time. Recording and conducting real strings for an R&B record in Kansas City during the 70’s was very unusual, if at all. The string and horn sections were the highlight of this arrangement. The rhythm section was the vital force that made all else flow with taste. Keith also played bass guitar which complimented the entire arrangement and made the composition jump. Keith gave this song everything it needed to become one of the nation’s best recordings of the late 70's.

Keith and I together created this masterpiece.

Lyrics

Yes It's You

Well, baby baby baby

I've got to say to you girl,

You're the best thing thats happened to me.

I can feel your melody.

Oh, ever since the day we met, it's been you girl.

Ever since I saw your face it's been you girl.

Ever since you came around girl,

there can be no one else in this whole wide world.

There can be no one else in this whole wide world.

No no no no no

Ever since I kissed your lips, it's been you girl.

Ever since you opened my heart,

it's been you girl.

Ever since you came around girl,

there can be no one else in this whole wide world.

There can be no one else in this whole wide world.

Well, I never had a chance taking just a glance at you baby,

baby, well well well well well

The love we have is free, a gift from you to me,

loving you, loving you, love love love love love.

You're like the sun that shine on a rainy day.

You can turn back the hands of time, don't lead me a stray.

Your love, your love is getting stronger eveyday.

No no, no no, no one else in this whole wide world.

There can be, no ------- no no no ha.

Ever since the day we met, it's been you girl.

Ever since I kissed your lips it's been you baby.

I can tell the world as I sing my song to you baby.

And how I love you girl.
