Story

I was playing at the "Inferno Show Lounge" here in Kansas City one night and a woman who was there came up to the stage, looked at me and gave me a message. The message read, "You Know You Love Me." I'd never seen her before in my entire life. When we took our break, she approached me again and I told her, you must have me mixed up with someone else. I tried to get rid of her. After the gig and upon arriving home, about 2:30 in the early morning, I heard my door bell ring. At this time of morning, I was wondering: who could be ringing my bell? So I peeped out the window and there was this same woman that had talked to me in the club. This time she had something in her hand, it looked like a gun, I couldn't really tell. So I decided to play it safe and call the police and leave. I never answered the door; I just left through the back door and then called the police. I don't know what her problem was but she scared the hell out of me. That incident remained in my mine for a long time. I'm much older now and these things don't happen anymore. So I decided to write a song about it. What an experience that was.

Help Me

A woman called me – the other night.

She told me something - I didn’t like.

Didn’t pay no attention – to what she said.

Next thing I knew – she was ringing my bell.

Went to the window – so I could see

If  that woman – looking for me.

Lighten up – don’t understand

Why that woman’s got a gun in her hand.

Course:

Somebody help me – help me save the day.

Somebody help me – I got to get away

I started running – out the back door.

And left the message I don’t live here no more.

I don’t remember – nothing at all.

Why this woman – is all pissed off.

Might have a situation, everybody’s getting high.

And it’s her imagination, my situation, love communications,

She’s got it going on.

Chorus:

Now tell me something – what would you do

a strange woman – chasing after you?

Lighten up – and get back.

I’m sorry baby – it ain't like that.

Vamp:

Give me a break – you made a mistake.

Give me a break – you made a mistake

Story

This is the story of a drunk that is wondering why his woman left him. He's got every reason to have the worst case of the blues. I wished him good luck. Don't blame her. It was his drinking that ran her away weather she has another man or not. This is good drinking blues for individuals having that problem. Think about! Who would want to spend their time with someone that is drunk all the time? Would you? It's only a matter of time until you feel you can't take anymore -- unless you're a drunk too. Then, it may work out fine.

Lyrics

My baby left me this morning.

I couldn’t understand.

I ask her why she’s leaving.

She said she’s found another man

Chorus:

I got the blues this morning people.

I got the blues you all and it’s worrying me.

Lord, I got the blues so bad.

Now my heart is in misery.

Now I’m alone and broken hearted.

And I just can’t seem to find my way.

My whole world has ended people.

And it must be the price I have to pay.

Chorus:

I’ve been thinking about it people.

Being here all by myself.

My mind tells me one thing.

But my heart tells me something else

Chorus:

Vamp on chorus::

Story

This song has the common story of a hard working man who has lost his lover. Sometimes a man will get so wrapped up in other things and end up putting his lady on the back burner. When that happens, sometimes she gets the feeling she's not loved and begins seeing someone else. That's life. In this country, a woman needs to know she is loved. If not, she'll soon be gone.

Lyrics

I Believe

I believe my baby’s cheating on me.

I believe my woman cheating on me.

Words has been spoken.

My heart is already broken.

I believe my woman’s cheating on me.

I believe somebody’s taken my place.

I believe somebody’s taken my place.

I can’t understand

Why there’s another man.

I believe somebody’s taken my place.

I believe my baby’s putting me down.

I believe my baby’s putting me down.

I want to know

Why she had to go.

I believe my baby’s putting me down.

Bridge:

Am I the one you’re thinking of? I don’t think I’m the one.

Am I the one who turns you on? I don’t think I’m the one.

Oh no.

I believe she don’t want me no more.

I believe she don’t want me no more.

Just look at what she did to me. She left my heart in misery.

I believe she don’t want me no more.

Vamp:

I believe she don’t want me no more.

Story

I remember a long time ago, I was standing on the corner of 24th and Michigan Avenue here in Kansas City. I was talking to some friends. Not really doing anything but wasting time. There was a girl that had recently moved into the neighborhood. Until this particular day, I had never seen her before. She was very pretty and sexy. She was someone that I really wanted to get to know. I didn't want to come on too strong so I kind of gradually closed in on her as a friend and later on we became really close. I think I fell in love the very first time I saw her. She stole my heart right from the start. That kind of relationship is what this song is all about. I enjoy writing these kind of songs.

Ooh Baby

The other day I was walking down the street.

I met an old friend of mine.

We were talking ‘bout a whole lot of nothing,

We were just wasting time.

Then you came walking by.

Right then you caught my eye.

Chorus:

0oh, baby, don’t you know I love you.

Ooh, baby, I swear I do.

Somehow I had to find the words to say,

And tell you what was on my mind.

Cause you’re the girl that could change my way

And make my life sunny and bright.

And then to my surprise

Something happened and that’s why.

Ooh, baby, don’t you know I love you.

Ooh, baby, I swear I do.

When you came walking by.

Right then you caught my eye.

Ooh, baby, don’t you know I love you.

Ooh, baby, I swear I do.

Ooh, baby, don’t you know I love you

Then you came walking by.

Right then you caught my eye.

Ooh, baby, don’t you know I love you.

I swear I  do.

Story

This song is about a couple who are having relationship problems. You see sometimes it's not always the man that is cheating on his lady, but in this case, it's the other way around. His woman has found another man who really turns her on and it’s gotten to the point where the truth is coming out. Their friends have seen her with someone else. Now they are talking about it. It happens all the time. Most of the time it's behind closed doors. There is an old saying, "What's done in the dark will come to the light."

People Are Talking

People are talking, people are talking ‘bout us baby.

People are talking, people are talking ‘bout us baby.

The way you been treating me

Causing me so much misery.

You’ve been seen with someone else.

Girl, I know you been cheating on me.

People are talking so much it’s worrying me.

The way you been treating me

Causing me so much misery.

Girl, I know you’ve been seeing,

You’ve been seeing some one else.

I know you’ve been seeing,

I know you’ve been cheating on me.

People are talking so much it’s worrying me.

People are talking; I’ve been too blind to see.

The way you’ve been treating me

Causing me so much misery.

People are talking, people are talking’ bout us baby.

People are talking.

Story

This song relates to another song, “Ooh Baby” which is on this CD.

I remember a long time ago, I was standing on the corner of 24th and Michigan Avenue here in Kansas City. I was talking to some friends. Not really doing anything but wasting time. There was a girl that had recently moved into the neighborhood. Until that particular day I had never seen before. She was very pretty and sexy. She was someone I really wanted to get to know. She stole my heart right from the start. That kind of relationship is what this song is all about. I enjoy writing these kind of songs.

In addition to what was written above, I might add, I had to come up with a conversation that was strong enough to at least get her attention. This is a remake of me letting this girl know what was on my mind and trying not to come on too strong. When the truth came out, it was the other way around. You've heard the story of "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game." Well, she put the bait out there, hooked me and reeled me in. It was she that whipped the game on me. In this case "What you see is what you get." another phrase is "Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

" It's all good

Lyrics

That’s A Real Good Sign

Do you know how much I want you?

You’re always on my mind.

Do you know you knock my off my feet,

Cold chills run up and down my spine.

Every time you get close to me,

I get a feeling that I can’t explain.

I get the strangest feeling

All the time.

And that’s a real good sign.

A real good sign.

To be with you would be so nice

‘Cause I want you to be my girl.

Spend some time, just you and me

So we can fall in love.

I know because you stole my heart

I got a feeling that I can’t explain.

I need you right here with me

All the time.

And that’s a real good sign.

A real good sign.

You’re the one, so think it over.

I’m a lucky man, you’re my four leaf clover.

Take a chance and you will see

That’s the way that it ought to be.

My heart reaches out to you

All the time.

And that’s a real good sign.

A real good sign.

Vamp;

So think it over ‘cause that’s a real good sign.

A real good sign.

Story

I remember my early years in college. I worked an evening job and went to school during the day. There were so many pretty girls there and none of them seemed to pay any attention to me. I was too shy to approach any of them, so I had to learn the hard way. It took me a while to build up enough nerve to talk to them. Soon I got over my fears and shyness, but, it took a while. My uncle asked me about the girls at school and I didn't want to discuss the matter but I ended up telling him the whole story. He laughed at me and told me to wake up. He told me, "Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream." So I decided to write about it in this song.

Lyrics

Someone To Love

The morning sun starts a new day.

As time passes on, it fades away.

My heart cries out I’m a lonely man.

I’m searching for love where ever I can.

Chorus:

I’m looking for a lover.

I’m looking for someone to love.

My heart cries out

I’m looking for someone to love.

My heart is weak and it’s not so strong.

I’m hoping and praying today she will come.

Playing around is a foolish game.

Because nothing is there if you still feel the same.

Chorus:

A man in love has so much to share.

But with out love, he don’t seem to care.

If a man never falls in love,

It’s only himself that he’s thinking of.

Chorus:

Vamp;

My heart reaches out looking for someone to love.

People let me tell you my heart reaches out,

Looking for someone to love.

Story

It was back in the sixties: I went to Sedalia, MO to play a gig with my friend "Tutty Gatson and the Derbys." On the way back to Kansas City, our car broke down leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere. I ended up walking and hitchhiking my way home with my Guitar on my back. As I was walking down MO 50 Highway, my feet got so tired I had to sit down and let them rest for a while. After I rested up a little, I started walking again. Finally, an old farmer gave me a ride to Blue Springs, MO which is just a suburb of Kansas City and I caught a city bus and made it back home. This song tells the story about that experience.

Lyrics

Traveling Man

I got forty five miles behind me; I got 45 miles to go.

I got forty five miles behind me; I got 45 miles to go.

When the sun comes up in the morning,

I’ll be walking through my front door.

This road keeps getting longer, but I got to keep moving on.

This road keeps getting longer, but I got to keep moving on.

When I reach my destination,

Lord I wont be back no more.

1st break;

I been walking all night, hitch hiking all day.

Trying to catch the next thing that’s going my way.

I got sixty five miles behind me; I got twenty five miles to go.

I got sixty five miles behind me; I got twenty five miles to go.

When I get home in the morning,

Lord I wont be back no more.

I’ve been walking down this highway and my feet done got tired.

I’ve been walking down this highway and my feet done got tired.

While the sun is shining bright,

I’ll find some shade and rest a while.

2nd Break;

Sometimes it’s good; sometimes it’s bad.

I took a gamble and lost everything I had.

I got ninety miles behind me.

I think it’s time to change.

I got ninety miles behind me.

I think it’s time to change.

‘Cause when I think about it,

I only have myself to blame.

Vamp;

Cause when I think about it,

I only have myself to blame.
