Story

When I look back over my life, I think of some of the things that I've done to assure my family wouldn't have to suffer and do without. Now that I'm older and I've had my ups and downs in life, I can truly say that I have done well. Like many others, there were times that I thought I was not going to make it and I wouldn't last too long, but somehow the Lord made it possible for me to continue and prosper. I've always believed a person never fails as long as they keep trying.

Don't give up, as long as there is hope, stay focused and know when to make changes. If you start something, then you should finish it one way or another. I wrote this song for kids, grand kids and family members. Look at the mothers and fathers that have given everything to make a better life for their kids and family members. I hope that after I'm gone, my kids can remember me by the words written in this song. I'm sure they will be pleased to know that I gave all that I could give to make sure they had everything they needed.

The price we pay as parents in most cases are over looked and sometimes never recognized. The sacrifices that we make to make sure that our kids are properly taken care of are what's expected. Today most kids are smart, talented and they have the ability to learn and become the person that they want to be. That is the way it was meant to be. And through it all, don't forget where you came from. I'm not bragging but I'm satisfied. My job as a father is graded "Well Done."

Lyrics

Well Done

As I walk down this lonesome road,

All my troubles I leave behind.

The time has come and the battle I’ve won,

And my journey is well done.

As I look back over my life,

I remember, Lord, I paid the price, oh yes I did.

I gave my life so proud and so free,

Like my father did for me.

Bridge;

Someday I’ll leave this kingdom, oh yes I will.

Leaving my treasures behind.

One day, I’ll have my golden crown

And at last I will lie down.

When I lay down to rest my soul,

And my light is growing dim,

I’ll go on to the other side, oh yes I will,

And I’ll leave you by and by.

I’ll go on to the other side

And I’ll leave you by and by.

I’ll go on to the other side

And I’ll leave you, well, by and by.

I’ll go on to the other side

And I’ll leave you, well, by and by.
