Too Late

Story

Eugene was thinking about some of the mistakes he had made in life. Times were hard as he grew up in the South. He lived on a farm with his grandparents. They taught him how to survive.  He remembers those times he had tried using drugs, which did not work for him.  Eugene was never strung out, but he recalls how many of his friends were.  He reminisces over the girl he wanted to marry from high school. Years have past since then, and all of these memories are now blowing in the wind, so he decided to write a song about these particular experiences so as never to forget.

Lyrics

Too late (Lyrics)

Back when I was brought up,

Such a long, long time ago.

That’s the time that I carried,

I carried such a heavy load.

1st chorus:

That’s when I found out I was too late.

Then I tried to change my life but I was too late.

And when I tried to fall in love I was too late.

Back when I was searching,

I was trying to find the right way to go.

That’s the time I was strung out.

Lord knows I just didn’t know.

2nd chorus:

And when I found out it was too late.

Then I tried to change my life it was too late.

And when I tried to fall in love it was too late.

Guitar solo:

Back when I – I was looking

For someone to love that’s right for me.

There she was just standing there,

She’s the girl that could end this misery.

3rd chorus:

Then she told me I was too late.

When I found that special girl I was too late.

All my life , all my life, I was too late.
